Leadership Practicums

Q. How many hours of ministry are required per week?

A. Students can expect between 15 and 20 hours of ministry involvement per week. However, during major events these hours may increase.

Q. Do I get to choose what ministries I’ll be involved in?

A. Yes. Students have the opportunity to choose a leadership practicum that interests them. In addition, students will be involved in ministries outside of their leadership practicum.

Q. Can I still have a job while attending JRLC?

A. Yes. However, students must prepare their schedules in advance knowing their attendance in church related activities will take priority over employment.

Academics

Q. Is JRLC accredited?

A. Yes. JRLC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of North Central Assocation and the Association for Biblical Higher Education.

Q. Can I transfer the credits?

A. Yes.

Q. Do I have to retake classes I’ve already taken at another college?

A. No; any course previously taken with a grade of C or better that JRLC requires can be transferred in.

Q. Can I take JRLC classes part-time or online?

A. No. The program is designed for full integration of the academic and practical education experience.

Admissions

Q. What do I need to apply?

A. Click here to download a JRLC application or apply online. For acceptance into JRLC students are required to fully complete the application and send a picture, 1 page autobiography, $25 application fee, high school transcript, college transcripts (if applicable), SAT/ACT scores, and 3 references (educator, pastor, employee/friend).

Q. Do I have to have a high school diploma to apply?

A. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Q. Is there an application deadline?

A. Yes. The application deadline is June 15, 2008. All applications received after June 15 will incur and additional $20 late fee.

Facilities and Housing

Q. Where do classes take place?

A. All classes and leadership experiences are conducted on the James River Assembly campus.

Q. Where will I live?

A. JRLC students are encouraged to seek housing close to the church. However, they may opt to live in the residence halls on the campus of CBC. For more information on housing options click here.

Q. Do I have to have a car?

A. It is not required of JRLC students to have a car but it is their responsibility to secure adequate transportation.

Q. Will I have a membership to The River fitness center?

A. Yes.
